Pearson Holiday Brunch

Saturday morning we headed over to Russ's aunt and uncle's house for the annual Pearson Holiday Brunch. There was quite an impressive spread of food thanks to various people such as Jan, Brianna and Cory! As always, we stuffed ourselves silly. What else do you do at the holidays! I sure am a sucker for quiche! Then, we exchanged gifts with each other. We got lots of great things but were especially pleased with our Pearson family t-shirts. I hope the picture shows how much effort Trish and Wayne put into these. They were able to find a picture of everyone and then pass out a t-shirt to everyone. How creative and generous!

We were supposed to go iceskating with our cousins Chad and Jennifer at Crown Center but unfortunately the weather said otherwise. Russ was able to spend some good "cousin" time with them yesterday playing lots of Wii. I think they all had a great time.

Some good news and then not so good news

Sorry it's taken us so long to post again. We have sure been busy with the Christmas season and work. Last Friday, Mark (Russ's dad) made it back home for the holidays from England. He is an engineer and has been sent over to London to help out with a waste water project. What a neat opportunity! So, the Pearson clan headed up to the airport to greet Mark as he returned back to KC. They were nice enough to pick Manny's for dinner so I could meet all of them after I got off of work. I know Sue was sure glad to have her hubby back home with her! We are going to have to soak up lots of good family time because Mark heads back to London for another 3-4 weeks after the New Year. We will all miss him but we are excited for this awesome chance to check out another country!

After dinner we headed over to St Luke's hospital because Uncle Gary was having a cardiac cath procedure. Gary is married to Russ's Aunt Lynda. They just got married a little over a year ago. This all was a bit scary because Gary is not that old! Gary had experienced some heart trouble at home and had to be admitted to the hospital. There we met his wife Lynda and the Graham clan in the waiting room. We tried our best to comfort Aunt Lynda as we all waited to hear how Gary was. He pulled through but had to spend a couple of days in the ICU. Our hearts and prayers went out to Gary and Lynda as they had to spend this Christmas in the hospital. We are all glad to hear that Gary is home and recovering.

Hanging out with Friends

Saturday night we went out to dinner to the Mango Room with our friends Kelly and Mike. It was a good southern style restaurant. It also was fun because none of us had been there before. Then, we went to a Christmas musical where we got to listen to lots of good Christmas songs. We decided we hadn't had enough fun yet so we headed to one of our favorite spots, JP's wine bar. We love getting different flights of wine and then to top it all off, a delicious cheese flight. This is Russ and Mike's highlight! Thanks Mike and Kelly for inviting us out. We always have so much fun with you guys!

Getting into the Christmas Spirit

So, this year Russ and I are celebrating our first "married" Christmas together. We had a lot of fun going out and picking a real tree. Those suckers are more expensive than what I was expecting! So, we brought home "Bobby Socks" (don't ask about the name) and starting decorating. I thought it would be fun to wear the reindeer ears and since I have a wonderful husband he agreed to wear them. We listened to Christmas music and came out with a pretty awesome looking tree!

Saturday morning Russ and I had our first babysitting gig together. Serry and Sean Sweeney had a little Christmas shopping to get done so we came to hang out with "Little Miss." In case you didn't know, that's Serena's nickname. We popped in a movie and just hung out for a couple of hours. I never knew that burbing a baby could be so difficult! I tried moving her all around and different types of taps on her back. Russ was convinced that I was "hitting" her too hard. Vicotry at last though! Facing forward seemed to do the trick. I thought it was pretty funny that she decided to start crying when her parents came home. I kept telling her she was giving them the wrong impression that we didn't have a good time together. For anyone who knows Russ and I well know this was probably a fairly humorous couple of hours. We did have a good time!

Practice makes perfect

I'm trying to figure out this whole blog thing so my posts might be kind of scattered for a while. I'm at Coffee Girls with April and Alisha...they are trying to teach me.

Welcome to our blog!

Russ and I have been thinking that it would be fun to start a blog about us for awhile now. Life got busy, and it somehow never happened....until now! Russ and I decided that one of our Christmas presents to each other had to be "made." Does this count?? I sure hope so! I love you babe and Merry Christmas!
